Susan was born in Oregon. She has lived in Idaho and Nevada - but grew up in Ogden, Utah. She attended Weber State University and the University of Utah, but is primarily a self taught artist. All of her art education has been supplemented by workshops, travel and life.

Susan is a nationally recognized bead artist as well as a painter - everything she does feels active and alive.

Artist statement: The goal in all of my work has been to create a reality or evoke an emotion. I love the expression of animal form (human and otherwise) and I seek to transcend cliche' with technique and humor. The surface of the piece is as important as the subject.

In a very contemporary way, I feel the responsibility of walking a path well trodden by artists and craftpersons through out history.
