The Process
These images began as photographs. Some have not been altered while others have been digitally enhanced using graphics software. Each image has been produced using a different technique. Those that have an almost watercolored look have had filters applied in Adobe Photoshop, usually followed by hand painting the images digitally. Jenkins says, "I lend a painterly quality to many of my photographs to help reflect a certain mood that I am trying to convey. By choosing the right 'brush', adding complementary colors, and the judicious use of software filters, I strive to enhance the original photograph."
The Artist
Craig Jenkins is a photographer, digital artist, and painter. In 2000, after many years as an enthusiastic amateur, Jenkins resolved to "quit the bureaucratic halls of karma, fulfill his destiny, and move to the mountains where his heart and soul reside." He moved to Utah and has been pursuing photography, digital art, and painting with a full-time passion ever since. As a travel photographer, Jenkins frequently photographs ethnic people engaged in their traditional way of life. Since moving to the fresh air and awesome scenery of Utah, Jenkins has been enthusiastically photographing the Utah landscape and working on his latest project: his "Mother Earth" series of images involving the overlaying of black and white nudes with nature patterns, then painting them with oils or acrylics. Jenkins resides blissfully in Park City, Utah.
