Margaret Hunt was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and spent her childhood and youth living in Utah, Colorado and California. She has lived in Utah off and on again for over 40 years and considers herself an adopted native.

Margaret has studied with Susan Johnson, Earl Jones and Ed Maryon in Utah, and Robert Spellman, Joan Anderson and Cynthia Moku in Boulder, Colorado. She attended the University of Utah and Naropa University. While studying visual arts at Naropa, she became immersed in contemplative practices and uses meditation as an entry point to creativity. Margaret teaches shamatha meditation and tonglen practice.

Margaret loves to experiment with paint and surfaces and texture. Her work ranges from very precise detailed Tibetan Thanka paintings to abstraction and back again to realism and portraits. Margaret's work appears in public and private collections including the Salt Lake City Airport Collection.
