About the art:
My process grows out of a background in printmaking and a continual need for aggressive marks and texture. Each painting is started by applying a layer of paint with my bare hands on the surface. Painting is blended and moved around with my hands until I am satisfied with the texture and the colors of the blended paint. Next I tool into the dried paint with a altered tool much like an awl. In this stage I create the composition as well as establishing the most dominate lines and structures. from these beginning stages I move forward on my ideas being open to intuitive and new ideas. Layering paint, vanishes, and lines my paintings grow in depth and detail.
About the artist:
“I have always been drawn to all of the beauty that I see around me. I am quick to study the colors with my eyes, the texture with my fingers, and the composition with my heart. My paintings tie me closer to the beauty I perceive and develop out of ideas that symbolize growth, rebirth, peace, and whimsical hope.”
